Summary/Abstract: In the present paper, the author briefly characterizes the obligation of confidentiality imposed and recognized by the state and lists some of its typical cases, including a reference to the relevant legal regulations. The main topic of the contribution is postal secrecy and determining its boundaries for the purposes of criminal proceedings. In this context, the interpretation of the term postal service can be considered particularly problematic. The author demonstrates the mentioned issue vividly on a concrete case from practice.
