Summary/Abstract: The study pays attention to librarians of Hungarian origin who worked beyond the borders of their motherland in the 20th century. Several of them left the country for political reasons (as a consequence of World War II or the 1956 revolution) or went abroad merely to seek adventure. In most cases they started working in libraries or institutions in addition to their original profession connected to literature or history, or else they were qualified librarians. Many of these experts worked in libraries of higher educational establishments and thus had the opportunity to have a role both in the teaching and research work at universities. The study researched both traditional and electronic content: biographical lexicons, monographs, databases, namespaces, films, as well as other data when necessary. It encompassed professional awards, leading positions held, realized projects and good practices, research related to Hungarian Studies, and scientific publications. The compilation is gap-filling since nothing similar on the topic has yet been done.
