Summary/Abstract: The paper offers a diachronic perspective on the 20th century everyday food and food habits of the villagers of the Lublin region, involving traditional dishes made from flour, water, milk, potatoes, groats, fruit and vegetables. The material, collected from 60–90 year old villagers during the period of 1985–2019, shows the way culinary art has been conceptualized and interpreted in its physical, symbolic and magic dimensions, connoting poverty and the villagers’ ability to function in harsh living conditions.
