Spatial Development of the Urban Structure Related to the Activity of the “Lublin” Sugar Factory in Lublin

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine the impact of industry on the spatial and functional transformations of the urban tissue on the example of changes in developments of a part of the Za Cukrownią district, which were directly related to the establishment and operation of a “Lublin” Sugar Factory in this area. The study is based on an analysis of the literature on the subject, a review of historical maps and a field visit. The research showed a significant influence of Sugar Factory on this part of Lublin. It manifested itself in the influence of the sugar industry on the spatial form of the area, on the pace of development and its functional character.
