Summary/Abstract: This research focuses on the concept of Central Europe and its intellectuals from different academic backgrounds. The concept of Central Europe is often replaced by several German variants, such as Mitteleuropa, Zwischeneuropa, Zentraleuropa or Ostmitteleuropa. Central Europe, as such, is structured on two different attitudes, one being of a German nature in the modern era, and the other, radically opposite, imagined by the Habsburg dynasty. The Jews of the twentieth century were the main element of Central Europe. When we talk about the identity crises that have taken place in Central Europe, we are referring to the crisis of religious and ethnic identity.
