Unconventional Participation as a Political Mechanism – Dilemmas, Forms and Conditions

Summary/Abstract: For several decades, the importance of unconventional participation has been growing in the political space. The article deals with selected aspects of the issues: (1) Justification of a broad approach to the features of participation, not limited to the dimension of the political system; (2) Dilemmas related to the understanding of participation, its compliance/non-compliance with the norms of the democratic system, exclusive and inclusive nature, the issue of voluntariness, the role of violence, and the national and international arena of political activity; (3) Unconventional participation as an objective mechanism of politics, an instrument of the strategy of power entities and the activity of entities contesting a given socio-political order, properties and conditions of unconventional participation, including: its specific forms.
