DEVELOPMENT OF ECO-TOURISM IN AZERBAIJAN

Summary/Abstract: The day-by-day decrease of natural areas in the world has caused concern about the protection of these areas, and to eliminate the damage caused by tourism to the environment, the term ecological tourism was created. In order to eliminate the negative effects of the tourism sector on the environment, the development of ecological tourism, which is sensitive to the environment and nature, is one of the urgent issues. After agriculture in the non-oil sector in Azerbaijan, ecological tourism is one of the promising areas with high potential. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the essence of ecological tourism, the situation and analysis of ecological tourism in Azerbaijan, and at the same time to evaluate the potential of ecological tourism in Azerbaijan and to make proposals regarding the development of this field. Analysissynthesis, historical, typological approach, mathematical-statistical and questionnaire method were used during the research. The information base of the research is made up of foreign studies, statistical data, books, and articles. The limitations of the study are the lack of new books, as ecological tourism is a new concept, and statistical data are not provided as a separate type of tourism on official pages. The results obtained by the questionnaire method were analyzed by SPSS analysis and GZIT analysis was carried out for ecological tourism in Azerbaijan. The results of the research work will be useful for enterprises engaged in the field of tourism, tourist facilities, and researcher.
