Summary/Abstract: Even if the existing legislative framework specifies tools and levers that allow the accurate collection of data on migration, i.e., children whose parents are working abroad, the real size of these phenomena is not known. Important institutions in this endeavor are the public social assistance services, the county school inspectorates, the educational units, the county directorates of social assistance and child protection, the National Authority for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Children and Adoptions. The statistical data obtained or presented by these institutions (at county or national level) do not allow the full knowledge of the phenomenon of children left at home, an aspect also supported by the studies performed. Quantitative and qualitative data are needed to understand the phenomenon and the psychological, educational and health consequences.
