Summary/Abstract: This is an essay concerning the differences between Romanian democratic system and the occidental democracies. Following the thesis that not the of police and justice marks the weakness of Romanian Democracy, but the lack of an independent mass-media, the author reviews the problems which have to be addressed in order to ensure a real independence of mass-media: economic and financial independence and a better legislative framework.
