Summary/Abstract: In our age it can be readily stated that due to recent changes in communication technologies and habits new situations have emerged in society. The paper examines the place and the role of conservatism in this new social context. The analysis does not focus on conservatism from a political perspective, but it attempts to describe it as a specific behaviour in everyday life, in respect to the ethos behind actions. In conservatism, relation to the past is of primary importance, and, in this respect, an obvious contradiction can be detected in our age. On the one hand, new communication technologies provide wonderful opportunities to preserve the past, while, on the other hand, there is a lack of interest in the past today. In such a case, there is nothing left for the Conservatives but to oppose the spirit of the age and to underline the obligation of remembrance, because evoking the past in the present helps to obtain a clearer vision of our world.
