Conditions for the development of special economic zones in Poland and its perspective

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is: to identify determinants of the functioning of SEZs in specific models of the world, to assess the degree of realizing objectives of zones in Poland, in the opinion of management, as well as their proposals for zones development (additional instruments and law regulations). The study used data from the World Bank report, the Ministry of Economy and the data from empirical research conducted among 10 of 14 zones. According to the World Bank analysts the attention should be paid to the development of private zones in specific models. Managers of zones in Poland favor the extension of their operation and the introduction of additional concessional instruments. They also point to the limitations resulting from too complicated law regulations. At the same time they confirm that the objectives set for the zones are not fully realized.
