Summary/Abstract: The present study (structured on two levels, one general that deals with terminology and one concrete, dedicated to the study of actual heraldic local marks) dealing with a less researched topic of local history, namelythat of the coat of arms of the city. Using dedicated Romanian heraldry texts, as well as monographic works I tried to achieve a fine and realistic description of the town’s heraldic symbols.
