Summary/Abstract: Celebrating Witold Lutosławski’s 100th birthday has become an impulse for many artistic and scientific actions. They also lied behind the basis of the very overview of Lutosławski’s song works dedicated to children. Another reason for reconsidering the very output of the author of "Gry weneckie" was the observation of the school practise and the fact that composer’s songs that used to be known by almost all kids in Poland, has almost been totally eliminated from the repertoire devoted to both singing and listening in schools these days. Hence, it seems reasonable to bring this outstanding output closer, to make it possible for a young performer and listener directly approach the composer’s work. The analysis of the lists proving the composer’s output show that songs for children were in the centre of attention in composer’s three moments of life. For the first time it was during a post-war period (to the end of the 1950s) where the majority of compositions dedicated to young performers and listeners were formed. The second period was 1957 when Lutosławski composed "5 Pieśni" for voice and piano, a crucial work for his compositions. The last time the composer referred to child poetry was 1990 in the cycle "Chantefleurs et chantefables". Each of these moments had common motivations the composer was led by creating this type of works and different means and ways of a musical setting of a literary layer. In the era of important civilization changes we witness it is worth returning to a good tradition of playing music with children and teenagers basing on the best artistic patterns to which unquestionably belongs the world of the author of "Pan Tralaliński".
