Summary/Abstract: The American poet Allen Ginsberg fi rst came to Prague from Cuba on 18 February 1965. Despite the fact that he appeared in Prague in a completely impromptu manner, he made a very strong impression here. He was elected King of Majáles and he acted in a completely natural, uninhibited manner, primarily in Prague, which of course irritated the authorities. He was under practically constant surveillance by the State Security service and their informants. Ultimately, he was arrested and expelled from Czechoslovakia.
