Chełm Town Records as a Source for Studies on the Functioning of Armed Formations of Gentry Local Government

Summary/Abstract: The article presented the sources on the basis of which it was possible to study the issues of local government armed formations in the pre-partition period. To do investigate it properly it is necessary to use the vast store of information included in the Chełm municipal books from the Relation series. Through their analysis the author discusses the content of the documents most helpful in reconstructing the whole procedure connected with the formation of the armed forces raised by local government.
