Summary/Abstract: An event that took place a month before the proclamation of the Republic forced the Istanbul press to publish a single newspaper. On September 6, 1923, when the typesetter of the newspapers İkdam, Akşam, İleri, Tercüman-ı Perakende, Tevhid-i Efkar, Tanin, Vatan and Vakit quit, the owners of the newspaper had to unite because there was no newspaper to be published on September 7, 1923. This partnership, which was born out of necessity, caused a newspaper called Müşterek Gazete, which had a life of only two weeks and then remained in the archives, to take its place in the history of the press. As the owners of 8 national newspapers came together to type the letters for the next day's newspaper, they were able to publish one newspaper instead of 8 newspapers for two weeks. At the end of two weeks, they were able to issue their newspaper again with the agreement made with the typesetter working in these newspapers. This event, which took place 100 years ago, has taken its place in our press history as an unprecedented example. In this study, the reasons for the emergence of Müşterek Gazete, the demands of the typesetter, the publication policy of the newspaper and the abolition of Müşterek Gazete will be given and its place in the history of the Turkish press will be mentioned.
