Summary/Abstract: As a tiny local party in early 1920s Munich, the NSDAP was primarily concerned with defining its own identity as well as core electorate. Central to this identity was playing the nationalist card. A major contribution to stir up nationalist sentiment was the Dolchstossprocess of Munich coupled with a magnificent media campaigne. Covering these events in the Völkischer Beobachter made the targeted political information widespread beyond the regional level. Tricks of hidden communication, the range of circulation, and vitriolic reports were all organic parts of a logically constructed system - the unravelling of wich is to be done in the present study.
