Summary/Abstract: The study deels with some concrete problems the euthor experienced while working as a Hungarian translator for the Committee of the Regions of the European Union. The difficulties of these Hungarian translations are generated by terminological rules wich sometimes exclude the possibiliy of translating mirror-words from German, as Hungarian "euro-language" was primarily formed using English and French and not German models. An other well-known difficulty is related to extended nominal groups in indo-European languages, to the spelling of compounded words or even to the lack of universally acceptable Hungarian equivalents of such basic words as Monsieur and Madame.
