Summary/Abstract: The article aimed at conceptualizating and operationalizating a new psychological phenomenon, called ‘Facebook addiction’. Social network sites are proliferating and have attracted millions people all over the world. Researchers and therapists are concerned about potential addictive influence of social media mainly on young people. The primary purpose of the carried out study was the Polish adaptation of the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale. A total number of 652 participants, aged 14–30 years, were enrolled into the study. A pool of 18 items were administrated with the measures of Facebook use, self-esteem, loneliness and relationships with parents and siblings. Six items with the highest item-total correlations were remained in the final version of the scale. The reliability and validity of the tool were both.
