Summary/Abstract: The authors will explain a new approach in management called “Gyroscopic Management” as a new managerial challenge in the contemporary society. This specific approach in training and education of (new) managers was also the founding for a specific (international) HRQM Bachelor study programme at Arnhem Business School. Students are in this program confronted with characteristics as self-reliance, self-study, and a Socratic dialogue, ethical and “gyroscopic” management. As lecturers and trainers, the authors also use this approach during guest seminars, trainings and workshops in other countries and experienced differences in didactical and professional approaches in management studies in higher education. They discovered a need for further development of specific competencies like “Intercultural adaptability”, “International business awareness” and “Social entrepreneurship” as added to the existing competencies for the (new) managers in their educations and training. Both authors will explain their basic focus of their separated research on this “Gyroscopic management” approach into social entrepreneurship and education and training for (new) managers. This study will present a Grounded Action research of one of the authors on the stages in Gyroscopic Management. The authors want to show how gyroscopic management can be a managerial challenge in the contemporary society in The Netherlands and Romania.
