Summary/Abstract: Since Antiquity man has identified a close connection between light and divinity, respectively between darkness and lack of life. The light of the first day, being the first creation of God, has the role of ordering the creation until the appearance of the heavenly lights, because the darkness was spread on the surface of the earth. God separates light from darkness, and light reveals and reveals all forms that hide in darkness. Although so different, light and darkness are not antagonistic realities. The light springing from the icon leads us to communion with God, to the primordial light, the true foundation of iconography: the Son of God, incarnating and bearing our human condition, allowed creation to be worthy of God. The light of the icon symbolizes the divine light.
