Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to discuss selected issues concerning ways of protecting monuments and securing cultural heritage, taking into account the special place occupied by the Inter-Academy Institute of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art on the Polish and world “map” of conservation. This Institute not only has the best equipment and high-class conservators, but also has a Conservation Emergency Room, which is a unique mobile laboratory equipped with equipment and apparatus based on the latest technologies. This publication discusses selected issues related to the protection of monuments in the context of both the existing legal regulations, the activities of the Conservation Institute, and the extensive cooperation of state authorities, scientific institutions, various types of organizations and Formations, with particular emphasis on the State Fire Service.
