Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is the safety and the role of medics of the health care system in Poland on the example of COVID-19 pandemic. In the context of the discussed safety, special attention was paid to the personal aspect, referring in this case to a specific professional group due to the impediments, which were: equipment shortages, unclear procedures, concealment of information, or social ostracism. The purpose of this article is to highlight the need to ensure the personal safety of medics, who during the pandemic were particularly vulnerable not only to potential infection, but also to the psychological and physical burden of the workload, or unfavorable public perception. The issues raised in this article are only an introduction to the broader issue of the safety of medical personnel during medical procedures. The observations made and experience gained have allowed this article to present the most important aspects of the work of medical personnel in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, with emphasis on the first weeks of the SARSCoV- 2 virus in Poland.
