Summary/Abstract: In his activity, professor Ion Breazu gave a special importance to the studies dedicated to folklore, noting three important coordinates. The first is related to the research of Transylvanian folklore itself; the second provides for finding the influences of popular creation on cultured Transylvanian literature, important due to its early stage, in the context of the beginnings of social national emancipation in Europe and a third coordinate follows the evolution of folklore research, from the Transylvanian School to contemporary research. We note that Ion Breazu did not focus only on the Romanian folklore from Transylvania, which he knows very well, but, starting from this premise, he detects his strong influences on the beginnings of Transylvanian literature, which lasted until late, in the middle of the 20th century, through the stories of Ion Agârbiceanu and other writers. To these concerns are added the activity of the magazine "Transylvania", where he permanently supported the publication of folklore and related articles, or the preoccupation of publishing books on folklore, in his capacity as propaganda secretary of Astra, a position that allowed him to support artistic creations, customs and popular traditions in his many visits through all the divisions of the strong Transylvanian association.
