Summary/Abstract: The autobiography of the contemporary Mexican poet and essayist Hernán Bravo Varela entitled “ Historia de mi hígado” is analyzed here. The text is the continuation of the Mexican homoerotic self-referential tradition as well as its innovation in terms of the rhetorical resources used, the position of the autobiographical self and the referential contextualization in which it is framed. These three aspects establish its originality and importance.
