Summary/Abstract: The article presents Slavoj Žižek’s interpretation of the October Revolution in his social and political writings. The thinker interprets the events of the 1917 revolution in a historiosophi- cal context, i.e. he tries to show the revolution was an important stage in the development of history. The Žižek’s interpretation is presented in five steps that illustrate the most important elements of this concept. The first step of analysis is to show the events of 1917 in the context of Hegel’s concept of the development of history that follows the mechanism of a dialectical triad. The second step is to present the October Revolution as an event that apparently breaks the continuity of human history but is, in fact, an element of progress. The third step of the analysis is to show the role of the historical moment in shaping the future social, political and economic order. The fourth step shows how Žižek interprets the part of a human being in the mechanism of history – in this case, the role of Lenin. The fifth step of the article is to show the importance of destruction and negation in the dialectical mechanism of history and how Žižek interprets chaos and disorder as a starting point for reconstructing social and politi- cal reality. The analysis has been made with the use of historiosophical terminology derived from the philosophy of the history of Hegel and Marx, as Žižek refers to the concepts in his considerations. The article is based on a qualitative content analysis of Žižek’s primary texts, which include his ideas about the Bolshevik revolution.
