Major Stylistic Trends: Affinities and Distancings

Summary/Abstract: This study shows that the four major trends that shape the field of modern stylistics have the particularity of being mutations that differ from each other. This singularity does not prevent the detection of theoretical and practical affinities and distancings. From the theoretical point of view, despite some points of encounter in terms of stylistic training, the object of study, the tools of analysis and the approach of analysis, it appears that these different stylistic tendencies often differ from one another. Following this confrontation, stylistics remains, despite a few divergences, a united body, and the different tendencies that animate it are part of a scientific game of a dynamic and evolutionary stylistics.
