Summary/Abstract: Offering formation models, a key to decipher the self (faith, wisdom, love, looking for the other are such sapiential options) the books of wisdom make the most of the symbolic potential of the categories of space and time, concentrating the world and its meaning into emblematic time-spaces. Terms of reference remain–as in hagiographies and apocrypha–“the wickedness of this world” vs. “God’s love”, but “visited” common places, persuasively restored, are no longer transcendent, but as mundane and livresque as they can be: the History of Rome, the Sum of All Vices, Alexandria, the Lives of the Fathers, or even the Rules of Love. Preparing for redemption is here on earth. Although the specifi c topos no longer unveils large landscapes and overwhelming perspectives, including the skies and the earth, heaven and hell, being signifi cantly restricted to the room of the heart and to the nooks of the mind, by returning to polish and perfect the self, the main reference is always Christian. The chosen ones walking in the Garden of Eden are replaced with the disciples carefully wondering in the garden-grove-orchard-book, with the emblematic time of teachings, with the privileged space – the library – whereas the validation of initiation is done when meeting the other into dialogue, by activating the most valuable of virtues – love.
