Summary/Abstract: The article deals with a recent Spanish police novel written by the novelist Isabel Arranz. The main character of the novel is a woman, Lola Vergara, who is in charge of the team that resolves a violent murder case. The article is about her, not only in the role of a police woman, but also as a friend, mother and wife. The main narrative dimension is a murder, but many other elements of the novel such as humor, drama, social aspects of the society make it possible for the novel to be read from different perspectives, depending on the lecturers’ interests.
