Summary/Abstract: The article Romanian language as a foreign language: teaching the present tense simple of the indicative is built around the hypothesis that teaching the verb for foreign students requires an innovative approach, which takes into account the specifics of the Romanian language. In the first part of the study, the opinions of the specialists regarding the Romanian verb and the classic teaching schemes of the present tense simple in the textbooks of Romanian as a foreign language are presented. The second part of the study is dedicated to a proposal of teaching the present tense simple, an approach that facilitates the learning process of the Romanian verb at A1 level.
