Summary/Abstract: Migration has affected the lives of societies in every period and continues to maintain its effect. In this study, the effects of place attachment, cultural codes, and habitus of Syrian immigrants living in Istanbul on social and physical space relations are examined. In order to reveal the cultural codes carried by the immigrants, related concepts were examined and information about their living spaces, habits and social lives in Syria were collected. The spatial equivalent of the cultural capital that immigrants with a certain habitus continue or are newly acquired has been researched. To understand this, in-depth interviews were conducted with Syrian immigrant families living in different neighbourhoods of Istanbul with different socio-economic development levels. The new living spaces of the immigrants (housing, neighbourhood and city centre) and their previous living spaces were compared. According to the findings of the study, it has been understood that the most important factor in the development of the place attachment feelings of immigrants in the migration process is based on social capital. It has been determined that citizenship relations and knowing a language play an important role in the maintenance and development of this social capital.
