Summary/Abstract: The present article takes as a starting point my rich experience in teaching Romanian as a foreign language to students originating in the most diverse parts of the world. The numerous occurrences of various exceptions from the basic morphological and syntactical rules regarding the Romanian definite article are usually both an annoyance and a discouragement for these students, but using concrete examples, I try to show how structural exercises may help in the understanding of the grammatical mechanism, as well as in the formation of automatisms. These types of exercises also help in the simultaneous development of the auditory and phonetic apparatus, as well as in the organization of the lexical units into sentences. This study emphasizes a series of situations of teaching Romanian definite Article and is based on the personal experience, on some observations, examples and solutions of teaching Romanian Grammar to foreign students.
