Hyphenated structures in musical reviews

Summary/Abstract: This article presents the phenomenon of substantive-substantive and adverb-adjective hyphenated word combinations in musical reviews in Russian. Musical reviews abound in linguistic means, including compounds nominations. These linguistic structures were analyzed, and the diversity in their semantics was indicated. In the research material, semes related to age, gender, intellectual characteristics, semes indicating the area of professional activity, the authority of a person were found. Hyphenated structures seem to be a suitable language tool for conveying various impressions of music as well as musical events as they emphasize the individual style of authors. They also prove the creativity of music critics and the trend towards analyticity reflected in the texts of music criticism.
