Summary/Abstract: In the realities of the turn of the second and third decades of the 21st cen- tury, interactivity, virtuality and multimedia have become the main formal determinants of messages for hybrid and digital generations (generations X, Y, Z). The most popular “domestic” cultural texts are mostly interactive and disseminated in the form of video games and interactive plots growing out of games. These forms, according to the author, not only become the basic spontaneous ‘home reading’ of digital generations today but will become the ‘dominant reading’ in the third decade of the 21st century. The article will characterize the phenomenon of the reading gap, the reading preferences of young people will be discussed along with the analysis of the new paradigm of plot reception defined in the article as the performative turn in reading.
