Summary/Abstract: The present study intends to present the main historiographic contributions concerning John Chrysostom’slife as well as the period when he lived, the exegesis and the ethics of the Antiochian exegete. It also focuses on the topic of the classic cultural heritage that inspired the structure of his argumentation, as well as the stylistic procedures and the literary genres of pagan Greek-Latin rhetoric
