Summary/Abstract: The aim of this paper is to compare semantic and morphosyntactic features of Slovene, Croatian, and Polish SubjEx verbs of emotion that govern bare nominal complements in the accusative case by applying the notion of the “personal sphere”. The study shows that these verbs can be divided into those that express a positive or negative evaluation of some properties of the object of emotion, and into those that indicate more complex scenarios in which someone’s personal sphere is impacted. It can be the personal sphere of the Experiencer participant or the personal sphere of other people.
