Summary/Abstract: Numerous research studies in the field of international trade focus on comparative advantages, since identifying those contributes to assessing both the country’s performance in inter-industry trade and its position in different international markets. Primary objective of the paper is to determine which product groups have comparative advantages or disadvantages in the trade between Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and its most important European Union (EU) partners during the period 2009-2012. For the purposes of measuring bilateral comparative advantages various trade perfomance indices have been applied on the data classified by the Harmonization system. Research findings indicate significant export concentration and thus comparative advantages of BiH in a small number of product groups in trade with all three EU partners. Comparative advantages appear mostly in traditional, resource-based and labour-intensive industries, while comparative disadvantages appear in agriculture, food industry and high-technology industries. There is no evidence of significant changes in comparative advantages patterns of BiH in trade with selected EU partners duringthe analyzed period.
