Summary/Abstract: Foucault’s concept of governmentality provides a specific epistemological perspective on political issues, drawing the attention to the productive effects of knowledge and, in particular, of rationalities of government. In resonance with related perspectives of political philosophy, the figure of the “endangerer”, recently employed as an executive category in Germany’s security policy, will be deciphered in the following, firstly, in the framework of a certain political epistemology, to be localised in its historic-specific context, and, secondly, analysed with respect to the political counter-effects inherent in its rationality.
