Summary/Abstract: An important condition for Poland to take advantage of the economic and social opportunities resulting from the country’s seaside location is the implementation of the guidelines of the European Union’s maritime policy on an integrated, interdisciplinary, comprehensive and innovative approach to all areas of maritime economy. The article presents the role of the EU and Polish maritime policy as a growth factor for the sector. Priority actions in the area of maritime policy of the Republic of Poland, conditioning its competitiveness, were defi ned. The publication is cognitive, ordering, methodical and postulative.
