Summary/Abstract: The study proposes an analytic critical reading of some epistolary and lyrical texts wearing the signature of Emil Brumaru, that are considered representative for the elegiac lyricism of the poet. This elegiac note acts as a counterbalance to the childish exultation and the teenage sexual frenzy for my interpretation grid. On the edge between psychasthenia and poetry, the elegiac lyricism emerges from the local town atmosphere to be carried further within the poet’s soulful load. The poet bypasses the so-called great fundamental themes, myths and abstractions, he is trying on purpose to encompass in the text the most trivial aspects of our existence, rehabilitating the tiny, humble things and creatures. To be mentioned, the boundless democratization, the objects and creatures of Brumaru’s universe have no ranking or status for there is no hierarchy to be respected to climb the social ladder traditionally. Being regarded from this perspective, Emil Brumaru’s poetic universe and correspondence examined in this study are consubstantial.
