Summary/Abstract: The paper aims to analyse the intertextual games in Vărul Shakespeare/ Cousin Shakespeare by Marin Sorescu, a text that parodies Shakespeare’s reputation, portraying him as a simple man who has lost his linguistic artistry and needs Sorescu’s advice to be able to write. Shakespeare and some of his most well-known characters have a new image in this play which integrates references to plays like Hamlet, As You Like It, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, Othello.
