Summary/Abstract: One of the most important personalities of the English Renaissance, William Shakespeare, is the greatest writer I am going to treat about in the following lines. He was a poet and a dramatist and has been regarded as the greatest writer in English language. Being often called “The Bard of Avon”, William Shakespeare has a very wide and complex work, which consists of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
