Summary/Abstract: Saint Paisius from Neamts and his contribution to the spiritual life in Moldova. Loved by Romanians and Russians alike, respected and regretted by Aghiorite monks, renewer of spiritual life from the 18th century, Saint Paisius from Neamts still represents today a philokalic landmark for the entire Orthodoxy. Its importance is revealed to us regarding the spiritual echoes of its Settlements, the hermitage in Optina and throughout Russia, the revival of autochthonous monasticism, especially that of Moldova, and the burning piety of Orthodox believers of various nationalities who cross the threshold of the Neamts Lavra to worship its saints relics. Paisie is not a discoverer of a new doctrine, but he will initiate his disciples in a continuous manifest Christology, in the old but not outdated philokalic, mystical, hesychast tradition, which will adorn monasticism and contribute to Romanian and pan-Orthodox spirituality in parallel with the official scholastic theology. Although its flame is extinguished, the paisianism still warms the souls of those who want to reap salvation, still arouses monastic nostalgia and still strengthens the hope of a possible and authentic life in Christ.
