The Pneumatological Spirituality of St. Arnold Janssen and of his Society of the Divine Word today

Summary/Abstract: The essential foundation of the spirituality of St. Arnold Janssen and his first congregation, the Society of the Divine Word (abbr. SVD), is Trinitarianmissionary base. Arnold Janssen, as the founder of three religious-missionary congregations, identified the essence of the missionary nature of the Church precisely in the dual mission of the Divine Word and the Holy Spirit. The Trinitarian spirituality and spirituality of the Divine Word were already analysed in this journal. The aim of this article is to present and deepen understanding of the pneumatological spirituality of Arnold Janssen and the SVDs and its relevance for today. It is elaborated in three chapters in which the following are presented: pneumatological spirituality as the culmination of the spirituality of Arnold Janssen, pneumatological accents in the Constitutions of the SVD and finally the challenges for the pneumatological spirituality of SVD today.
