Summary/Abstract: The Bessarabian press from the interwar period represents an important source in studying the socioeconomic and cultural aspects that took place in society. For example, the newspaper „Бессарабское слово” (eng. – Bessarabian word), a daily newspaper published in Chișinău, with a page dedicated to the county centers of Bessarabia. With reference to the year 1936, the correspondents responsible for Bălți County elucidated the current problems of Bălți society: the city budget and the distribution of money for administrative-economic problems, the road repairs, solutions for electrifcation, the sanitary and epidemiological situation, school, cultural and philanthropic events, the problems of the Jewish society, the strikes and social tensions, but also a series of other aspects that required the involvement of the local authorities or the Bălți society.
