Summary/Abstract: The article aims to make a historical reconstruction of the variety of monetary practices in early Soviet Russia. It covers the period that began with the rise to power of the Bolsheviks in late 1917, continued through the years of civil war and war communism, and ended with the end of the New Economic Policy (NEP) in 1927. An attempt has been made to theoretically systematize the different forms of monetary pluralism, which show the complexity of the monetary institution.
