Summary/Abstract: The Orthodox church music from Banat spread for a long time by oral means, being musically noted at the beginning of the 20th century. The collection gathered by the military priest Terentius Bugariu was published in 1908 and reflects an intense work in documenting and studying the church stall music in Banat. Almost forgotten, as it was not included in the study program of the theological schools, the book written by T. Bugariu reflects the versions of the chants that were characteristic to this area and has numerous common points with other collections printed in the first half of the last century. The article presents the context of the publishing of the mentioned volume and the concept of its author on church music, reflected in the introductory study of the book.
