Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on a closer analysis of narratives about the family, its generations and their connection with the events of history, as well as on the narratives about everyday life and childhood narratives. The study on narratives was based on several hypothetical research questions: Which themes dominate in memory narratives of the population in the Riga Pārdaugava vicinities? What wider historical contexts are the memories embedded in? What kind of event chains emerge in the narratives? Why are these themes important? The paper is based on a detailed case study (interview), and the materials of other interviews, which contextualise the content of one interview selected for the case study as well as the importance of its context for the research. The source of this paper is semi-structured interviews and memories written by the present or former Pārdaugava residents and available on the online digital platform garamantas.lv.
