Summary/Abstract: The use of nanomaterials may pose a risk to human health. For risk management, it is important to have quantitative information on the concentration of nano-object aerosols in the surrounding environment. Due to the high price of laboratory-class devices, such as condensation counters or electrometric counters, they are used only for periodic measurements of the number concen- tration of nano-objects. Currently, there is a growing need for devices capable of monitoring the concentration of nano-object aerosols that are cheap enough to be installed where nanomaterials are used or aerosols can be spontaneously generated. The article presents methods and technical solutions for direct measurement of parameters characteristic of nano-objects workplaces in the air. One of the solutions is the prototype developed by the authors within the scope of the 5th stage of the National Programme “Improvement of safety and working conditions” a low-cost nano-object aerosol meter. The results of tests verifying the correct operation of the prototype of this meter in the work environment related to the area of nanotechnology are presented.
