Summary/Abstract: Just memory is hard to come by. We must, after all, make a choice. In turn, we create meaning, as well as an illusion, a static image from the entire course of events and facts from which someone’s life is built. If we were to choose a few significant events, stages of action or statements from any life story to present in the stories of several authors, everyone would choose completely different moments. And each story would be completely different. This paper is a laudatory speech that I delivered at a conference dedicated to Professor Andrzej Rzeplinski. I chose three situations that define the professor’s achievements: (1) his symbolic role, which is currently the most con- spicuous one; (2) his formative role through criticism of the law of the People’s Republic of Poland; and (3) his optimistic belief in good law.
